BEYOND THE VALLEY 70cl

We are in May 2010, when a new project was born in Mombaruzzo. Two realities meet, the Berta family and Diageo Italia. The idea was born: Oltre il Vallo, a fine aged grappa, aged in single malt scotch whiskey barrels. The project is the union of two cultures: the artisan passion of the Berta family and the mastery of the best Scottish tradition, represented by a global company such as Diageo, world leader in premium alcoholic beverages. Two such different cultures, united however by the passion for distillation. On the one hand grappa, a tradition of the countryside of Italy and on the other the Scottish single malt, fruit of the fields of northern Europe. The name Oltre il Vallo recalls how no one has ever managed to cross the ancient fortifications of Hadrian, that wall that represented the northernmost border of the Roman Empire in Britain for much of the period of Roman rule over these lands. A fortification that divided the island into two parts. No one ever managed to go beyond this border, until today, when Highlands and Monferrato symbolically unite in this aged distillate. The barrels, selected one by one, come from those distant lands, from the ancient and finest Scottish distilleries: Lagavulin, Caol Ila and Mortlach, important names that have made and are making the history of the best Scottish whiskey. Amber in color, Oltre il Vallo is characterized by a soft and enveloping flavor. At the beginning it is an explosion of aromas ranging from notes of marc, raisins, dried fruit and almonds. In a second moment these sensations give way to a slight hint of smoke, peat and malt. Silky and enveloping, it lingers for a long time in the mouth and reconfirms the olfactory sensations of softness on the palate, in a bouquet of aromas reminiscent of orange, hazelnut and, at the end, tobacco and honey. The alcohol content is 43% vol. and is offered to the public in an elegant tin. Recommended glass: Selection glass.
