Description

Barolo "Broglio" Schiavenza is a robust and very intense red wine, aged for 36 months in large Slavonian barrels. The nose is deep, with elegant hints of wild rose, sweet jams and spices. In the mouth it is soft, full, powerful, with great structure and tannins. The Broglio di Schiavenza is an austere and authoritarian interpretation of Barolo, a true hymn to classicism. Producing wines that are the spokespersons of one of the most suitable territories in the world, without filters or manipulations: this has always been the intent of the Alessandria brothers, founders in 1956 of the Schiavenza winery, today succeeded by their son-in-law and enologist Luciano Pira. The vineyards extend mostly in the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, with 10 hectares of land, although 4 hectares in Monforte are also part of the vineyard park. Great respect for grapes and territory, where no chemical or synthetic substance is used, followed by a consistent cellar work with fermentations that occur spontaneously. Without fear of denial, one of the best quality-price ratios in the Langhe. The red Broglio is obtained from pure Nebbiolo grapes, coming from a sub-area of the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba called Broglio. The vineyards, which rest on clayey-limestone soil, are located at 360 meters above sea level with south-east exposure. All the steps take place with the utmost respect for the fruit, therefore the harvest is carried out manually and after the destemming of the grapes, spontaneous fermentation begins, with maceration on the skins for about 15-20 days. The liquid is aged for 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. The Broglio wine reveals itself in the glass with the typical dress of the great Barolos, that is garnet edged with orange reflections. Austerity and expressive graduality, is what the first smell suggests, for a liquid that tends to open little by little. With the due oxygenation it does not skimp on notes of strawberry jam, dog rose, withered violets, and clear balsamic puffs attributable to licorice and resin. When tasted, it does not hide its imposing muscular structure, where freshness and tannins dictate the rhythm of the sip. Powerful and long, the balsamic sensation perceived on the nose is also found in the closing. A great bottle for lovers of "male" Barolos, as per tradition! Ruby red color with garnet hues, deep, complex aroma, with elegant hints of wild rose, strawberry, sweet jams, licorice, musk, soft, juicy, full, powerful taste, with excellent structure and tannins, persistent balsamic finish.May contain sulphites . Alcohol 14.5%
