The Barolo "Bricco Sarmassa" by Brezza is a robust and important red wine, of great impact, aged for 24 months in large barrels. A riot of red fruit, sweet spices and berries are integrated into an intense and structured, very complex aromatic profile. Barolo Bricco Sarmassa seems to whisper something to us like: fashions pass, Brezza and their wines remain. This important family of Barolo producers, active since 1885, is now in its fourth generation and year after year presents classic wines of great quality, executed with precision to make them a mirror of the subzones. The Nebbiolo vineyards, which grow in the parcel formerly called Bricco Sarmassa, are located in the part of the municipality of Barolo bordering La Morra, completely exposed to the South with fossilized Sant'Agata marl soil. Their cultivation is managed with great care and competence, the same that is found in the cellar: the grapes of the Bricco Sarmassa parcel are vinified separately and subjected to long macerations that enhance the soft tannins of the Lampia and Michet sub-varieties and aged in large barrels; but only after a tasting, in which amateurs and expert wine technicians participate, is it decided whether to bottle the wine with the particular denomination of Bricco Sarmassa or under the more general one of Sarmassa. It is the attention to all the details that characterize a wine that makes the Brezza family true champions. Barolo Bricco Sarmassa hardly goes unnoticed: it is seductive, deep, complex, of great charm, balanced and long-lived. In the glass it has a bright garnet color, with the transparency, characteristic of the grape. The nose is elegant and intense. It combines notes of youth that are still important, starting with powerful initial hints of licorice, cloves, rose and violet, with the classic hints of aging: gradually the wine opens into raspberry jam, strawberry and blackberry in alcohol, intertwined with notes balsamic and spicy of mint, thyme, cinchona, white pepper, juniper and very virilely ends with hints of chocolate, cocoa, roots and earth. On the palate it has a great structure, an excellent pulp and a great juiciness. The alcoholic power is masterfully retained, so much so as to have a moderate perception of heat, proportionate to the aggressive freshness and lightened by the acidity and perfectly made tannin. A very long finale concludes the meditative experience. Ruby red color tending to garnet; perfume sophisticated range of scents with dense floral, fruity and spicy notes of licorice, pepper, rose, cherry, ripe strawberry, raspberry and blackberry; taste of great structure, intense, incisive and persistent.
