Barbera d'Asti Superiore Le Rocchette is a territorial product par excellence, born from the brilliant interaction between this famous native vine and the multifaceted Monferrato terroir, as well as from the centuries-old experience of the Olim Bauda company, today run by the fourth generation of the Bertolino family. From 1961, the year of purchase of the Villa Bauda in Incisa Scapaccino, the Olim Bauda estate was born, recognized since the early years of production for the strong personality of the Barbera produced in the vineyards around Nizza Monferrato. The strong roots in the places of settlement allowed the Bertolino family to specialize their productive relationship with Barbera, achieving excellent results with the selection of particularly suitable vineyards, of which Le Rocchette is a clear example. The Le Rocchette cru, located just off Isola d'Asti, has a soil with abundant, particularly draining sedimentary sands and is placed at an altitude of about 250 meters above sea level, with excellent sun exposure. The only grape grown is Barbera, with a low planting density and low yields per hectare: a real peculiarity, the average age of the vines which reaches 50 years, guaranteeing the wines produced here aromatic variety and complexity. The long maceration and aging in large Allier oak barrels allows Barbera Le Rocchette to acquire a bouquet of great fullness and a dense tannic texture, making this particular product of the Olim Bauda estate a reference wine for the Barbera culture of Asti. .
