Barolo Ravera is a real institution of the Elvio Cogno winery, owner of historic vineyards in the Novello area in the eastern part of the Barolo DOCG. The Elvio Cogno winery, following in the footsteps of the master Elvio, has always pursued a specific goal: to produce wines capable of tracing the history of the family, while maintaining the traditions and the typical style of the Langhe. The great wines of Elvio Cogno are born in the ancient granaries of a farmhouse that has been remodeled to face important enological challenges. Through careful and rational management of the vineyards, without any extremism and forcing, with low yields per hectare, respecting the biological balance of the vine, Valter Fissore and Nadia Cogno cultivate only native varieties, with particular attention to the production of Nebbiolo from Barolo , within an incomparable terroir. In this splendid landscape of sky and hills, the Barolo Ravera is born, on the Bricco Ravera hill which houses the eighteenth-century manor house of the Cogno family, recently subjected to an architectural recovery, together with eleven hectares of owned vineyards. The Ravera cru, considered the most important in the Novello area, makes use of a predominantly calcareous soil composition and historical vineyards, capable of giving the Barolo produced here aromatic finesse, elegance, structure and longevity. The result is an austere Barolo in the first years of life, capable of passing the test of the years unscathed by achieving an extraordinary complexity of aromas and flavors. The not too short fermentation and a careful selection in the vineyard help to enhance the characteristics of the grape, guaranteeing qualities that are best expressed after a period of aging in the bottle. For all these reasons, Elvio Cogno's Barolo Ravera is the authoritative witness of a prestigious terroir, which takes the typicality of the Langhe to the top of quality. It may contain sulphites.
