Travaglini's Gattinara Riserva is a red made from pure Nebbiolo, produced in the Upper Piedmont. In this territory of very ancient volcanic origin, with soils rich in minerals and iron, the noble Piedmontese vine expresses itself with wines of great finesse and elegance, with floral and fruity aromas, spicy and mineral hints. It is a decellence label, which is produced only in the best vintages and has an excellent propensity for aging. The red Gattinara Riserva is produced from vineyards cultivated at an altitude of 320-420 meters, with a beautiful sunny south, south-west exposure. The training system is simple guyot, with a planting density of 3500-5000 plants per hectare and yields of less than 65 quintals per hectare. The soils are rocky, reddish in color due to the presence of iron mineral salts. The climate of the area, cool and breezy, favors a slow ripening of the grapes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins for about 2 weeks. The wine ages for 3 years in Slavonian oak barrels, partly in smaller wood and completes the refinement with another 8 months in the bottle before being marketed. Gattinara Riserva is one of the excellences of Travaglini, which in the splendid piedmont area of Upper Piedmont produces a classy, intense and refined Nebbiolo. Thanks to careful work in the vineyard and in the cellar, the wine is able to express and become a faithful interpreter of the best characteristics of the Gattinara area, bringing the peculiarities of the territory into the glass. It shows a garnet color. The nose expresses floral and spicy notes, aromas of small red berries, hints of licorice root and mountain herbs. On the palate it has good body with a fresh and intense sip, fine and evolved tannic texture and a clear mineral vein, which accompanies towards a savory finish. It may contain sulphites. Alcohol content: 13.5%.
